The Order has its roots in the intellectual sphere and serves as guardians of the knowledge of the City State and as guardians of learning and creative activities. The Order is responsible for the art, artifacts, books, and learning of the state as well as more modern concerns such as the state's internet and email communications, podcasts, etc.

The Sovereign Golden Order of the Book is bestowed upon those who have demonstrated their commitment to the activities of the Order, who are of good character and who desire to, in general, further the cause of knowledge, learning and technology.
